Arranging care for a parent or partner is stressful enough without the cost being a mystery. Most pages about care home fees give a single national average and stop there. We wanted something more honest and more useful: what care actually costs in your area, what the council pays versus what you will pay, and whether you can get help.

What we do

We take official, public data, the council rates every local authority reports to NHS England Digital and the Care Quality Commission’s register of homes, and turn it into clear local figures and a free calculator. Every number is traceable to a named source and dated, which you can check on the methodology page.

Independence

We are independent and not affiliated with any care home, care directory, council or the NHS. We do not sell care, list individual homes, or take commission on placements. That means we have no reason to inflate or downplay any figure. Where we cannot give an exact number, we say so.

Who builds it

Nursing Home Fees is produced by Digital Signet, which builds data-driven information sites in the UK. If you spot something that looks wrong, or a council rate that does not match your experience, we want to know.
